Fortune just released the list of fastest growing Cos for 2005. The growth of the big daddies - P&G, Fedex and Lowe's is something other companies can learn from.
Here's how they do it:
- P&G talks about the importance of organic growth - Getting more business from your existing customers. The organic growth target is 4-6% annually.
- Lowe's (The Home Improvement Store) focus on their philosophy..." of being customer's first choice when it comes to home improvement in every market we serve.." rather than have an obsessive vision of being the largest home improvement retailer. They also talk about the importance of discipline - Sales per square foot, operating margin, return on invested capital etc.
- Fedex's success is recognizing change and creating new markets.
