If you were waiting for a sign that mobile phones have reached absolute ubiquity in the modern world, here you go. Vodafone UK has begun selling handsets from vending machines. Called Quickphone kiosks, these machines will dispense three different phones ranging in price from 30 to 53 pounds, so you don't have to walk into a retail store anymore. I've seen a few prepaid handsets sold in airport vending machines from time to time, alongside various USB cables and software packages, but this is the first I've heard of a Western carrier deploying its own unmanned kiosks.
