I had written a few weeks back about the emerging trends in music. One of the trends that was identified was "music everywhere". Devices like iPods are redefining the way we hear and consume music. I guess this now happening to news too, in India. Now, you can listen to Hindustan times news on your iPod, MP3 mobiles or when you are accessing the net too.
Branded the Hindustan Times Audio Digest, the audio content will feature the newspaper's top stories pertaining to politics, business, Bollywood, sports and entertainment news, and will be available on the company's digital download service, SoundsGood.com, as well as through its growing list of distribution partners including MSN. When the service is launched, Secure Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds will enable customers to schedule automatic delivery of the Hindustan Times Audio Digest product directly to their computers or for transfer to portable media players including the iPod or those supporting Windows Media. Compatible devices branded with the Microsoft "Playsforsure"(TM) label include products from Creative, i-River, Dell and HP. The content will be produced and edited in India and available for consumer access around the globe.
I believe brands in India must get ready to redefine that way they will advertise to these consumers. No more should one think of advertising offline on HT anymore. Think voice, think music, think jingle, think video, think links, think advergames, think images, think screensavers. Think MORE! Think customer engagement!
