There has been a lot of debate whether customer-centric marketing will gain ground across the world. With technology lifecycle across different countries being at different maturity levels, there is a lot speculation whether this form of marketing will gain ground across the world in a similar manner like we see in the US. For example, the Asia Pacific Nations have a lot more mobile devices than internet access. Some countries like Korea have a strong penetration of broadband. While the US has significant penetration of the internet. So, would one see similar forms of customer-centric marketing or will it take different forms across different markets?
What's customer-centric marketing? This form of marketing is a seismic shift from mass-marketing (as it exists today) to a segment of one( customer or a community of interested customers). It uses all forms of media like internet, viral video, blogs, social media, mobile marketing, user generated content(UGC) which are used synergistically with mass media vehicles like TV, Radio, Print, Outdoor etc. It is more conversational as you can build a dialogue with customers across different interest levels. It's also based on potential value( LTV- Life Time Value) of the customer and hence is a lot more ROI driven. It's more pull based rather than push based.
